Bad Jazz is a sharp, hilarious and scathing satire that takes its aim fair and square at pretentious theatre makers.
The narcissistic, “guru” theatre director, Gavin is creating his latest “cutting edge” work. Natasha a starry-eyed young actress is willing to do anything for her art but her boyfriend Ben is not too keen on how far she is prepared to go. Danny, an earnest but very clueless actor, is trying to cope with a pregnant fiancée at home while falling for Natasha during rehearsal and Hannah the neurotic playwright who shamelessly pilfers her friends’ real life dramas for her play can’t understand why her play is turning into something she can no longer recognise.
When the lines between reality and performance begin to blur, relationships are tested and this group is forced to ask themselves how far they’re prepared to go for art’s sake.
From the brilliant creative team who brought you the critically acclaimed productions of pool (no water) and Terrorism.
“Mr Farquar has a wonderful way of being droll and outrageous at the same time” –The New York Times
“You know a true comic playwright has arrived when the audiences starts laughing before the actors tell the jokes” - The Guardian
“A bang up, bawdy wild night in the theatre” -Towerload
